Common Questions About Pawning
Discover answers to the most frequently asked questions about pawning and cash loans at Volunteer PawnBrokers.
Is there a limit I can borrow?
The only limit is the amount we will loan on a single collateral item. If you need more cash than the single item limit allows, you can use multiple items as collateral. By combining the value of several items, you can borrow thousands when you need it.
I don't want to lose my pawned items. How long do I have to redeem them?
There is a 30-day (grace) period past your maturity date in which to redeem your items. To redeem your property, present your pawn ticket and repay the loan plus the up-to-date interest.
If the loan is still within the initial 30 day grace period, you may request an extension. Bring your pawn ticket and pay the interest due to extend your loan.
What types of items can be pawned?
We accept a wide range of items including jewelry, electronics, musical instruments, and more. If you’re unsure, bring it in and we’ll evaluate it for you.
What happens if I can't repay my loan on time?
If you can’t repay your loan by the due date, you can extend the loan period by paying the interest due. If you choose not to repay the loan, by Tennesse State Law, your items become the legal property of the lender (pawnbroker).
Is my collateral safe while in pawn?
Yes, your collateral is securely stored in our facility and is insured for the duration of the loan period.
Can I get my item back before the loan is due?
Yes, you can repay your loan at any time during the loan period and retrieve your item.
What can I do if my pawn ticket is lost or destroyed?
Go immediately to Volunteer PawnBrokers. If your items have not been redeemed and you are within the grace period, you can complete and submit a lost ticket request. Bring the same photo identification card you used when pawning your items.
